Scenes From Paris
Paris is one of those places that evokes a lot of emotion from people. Some love it, others hate it. But it’s filled with history and at the top of many travel wishlists. Rachel and I did some of the typical things like visiting the Eiffel Tower and taking in the sights from the upper deck of a hop-on-hop-off bus. Here are just a few of the many photos I took during our week in Paris.

Ah, the Eiffel Tower…the most well-known attraction in Paris. Since it wasn’t too far from our hotel, we saw it almost every day. But we did go to the top one day to see the views, and while I think it’s a bit overrated, it’s hard to go to Paris without checking this off your list.

The skip-the-line Eiffel Tower tickets were nice, and I would recommend them to save some time. However, they only allow you to skip the line to get on the elevator that goes to the second level (and really, there’s still a line of everyone else who bought the skip-the-line tickets, it’s just a lot shorter than the normal line). After you get off that elevator, you have to wait in another line to get on the elevator to the top level, which is a bit chaotic, and no one needs to check anyone’s ticket at that point. Have some patience. It took us an hour total to get through all lines and elevators and reach the top. Probably would’ve been twice as long without the skip-the-line tickets.

Skip-the-line tickets for major tourist destinations are worth their weight in gold. I had a skip the line tour for Eiffel during my trip to Paris, and then I got massively sick and had to stay in the hotel room for the next eighteen hours. Missed my Eiffel tour and one other thing I was going to do. I wound up going back to the tower first thing in the morning on the day I left France- even arriving an hour before they opened, I still had to wait in a huge line. Worth it though. (And I loved the companion view from Montparnasse 56 also – https://stevenglassman.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/paris-10.jpg )

Yep, definitely glad we got the skip the line ticket. Even if it didn’t help us 100% of the way, it certainly got us past a huge chunk of the line. Your picture looks gorgeous! I wish we went up there for that view!
